Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is well-known for her stellar roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards including an Oscar. Early on she began playing on stage for various Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. From her early years, she has been passionate in the field of acting. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. As a result of having Mumps, she was deaf on one side of her ear. This was not enough to stop her desire to be an actress. When she was a teenager, she studied drama in college before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together to make Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. She landed one as an actress who played the main character in Swing Shift. Since then she has appeared in many films, television movies and series. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
